The first question most people ask when they buy a new tv is, “What kind of tv mount do I need?” The answer depends on the size of your tv screen and the room’s seating arrangement.

Note: The following categories describe the type of mounts you can buy. All of the mounts come in various sizes based on the size and weight of your TV.

 

1. WALL MOUNTS

Pros:

-Compact size makes it nearly invisible in the room.

-Light and incredibly easy to install

-A sturdy mount that will generally support heavier tv sets.

-Easiest on the wallet.

Cons:

-Since it lacks a tilt feature, you can’t modify the viewing angle.

-The TV must be leveled perfectly, as it is extremely difficult to make modifications.

-If you really want to organize your wires, you might want to choose a different model.

 

Ideal location: Small rooms

Pros:

-Greater viewing angle than you would get in a fixed mount.

-Viewing angle adjustable up to 15.

-Can easily accommodate nearly any TV.

-Affordable.

Con:

-More expensive than fixed mounts and less flexible than articulating mounts.

 

Ideal location: Above a fireplace; in boardrooms

-Offers the widest range of movement.

-Perfectly suited for living spaces where seating location may vary.

Cons:

-Supports less weight than the other models.

 

Ideal location: Open air kitchens and living spaces

 

 

2. CEILING MOUNTS

-Rotational movement is easy, allowing for the most comfortable viewing position.

-The mount can easily be extended towards the floor.

-It can be put in the corner of a room.

Cons:

-If you don’t hire a professional installer, you’ll have to mount it to the ceiling from the top of your ladder!

-Because of the viewing angle, it supports a smaller load than the other mounts.

 

Ideal location: A fully furnished room where there aren’t any walls with available space.

 

 

3. TV CART

Pros:

-A simple solution that adds an elegant, modern accent to your room.

-The shelf provides a perfect spot to put a a DVD player or gaming console.

Cons:

-Costs more than the other models.

 

Ideal location: Commercial locations such as schools, hotels, conference rooms, hospitals or offices.
